Hong Fu 傅红
Born in China in 1946, Hong Fu arrived in Australia in 1990.
From 1988 to 2025, he has had 68 solo exhibitions in Australia, China, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Italy, Hong Kong, and London.
Hong won the Shirley Hannan National Portrait Prize in 2002 and was a finalist of the Dobell Prize of Drawing in 2004.
He was also the finalist of the Archibald Prize in 2008, 2009, 2021, 2022, AGNSW;
the finalist of the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize in 1996, 2010, 2014, Sydney;
and won Highly Recomanded Award of the Darling Portrait Prize in 2022 and collected by National Portrait Gallery, Canberra.
In 2021, his artwork was selected for the Archie 100 exhibition in the Art Gallery of NSW as a four time finalist of the Archibald Prize.
Hong’s art works are collected widely around Australia and overseas, including by the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra; the Government House of Victoria; and the Supreme Court of Victoria. He has also been invited to paint notable persons such as Dame Elisabeth Murdoch; Dr. Joseph Brown; the Honourable Linda Dessau AC CVO; Sir Charles Court; Sir James Gobbo, and more.
